Travel Prep Checklist: The ADHD Adventurer
Reducing- 'Airport Anxiety' and 'Packing Paralysis' using visual checklists and systematic transitions.
Avoiding the 'Post-Departure' Panic
Travel is the ultimate "Executive Function Challenge." It requires planning, timing, memory, and sensory regulation—all at once.
ND-Friendly Travel Hacks:
1. Packing Cubes (Visual Bins): Use a cube for "Shirts," a cube for "Pants." You can see exactly what is missing.
2. The 'Leave-Behind' Ritual: 2 hours before you leave, put ALL your bags by the front door. Do not "Just add one more thing" at the last minute. This is when the keys get lost.
3. The 'Medication Certificate': Always carry a copy of your ADHD prescription. Some countries are very strict; having the paper prevents a "Legal Crisis" at the border.
Travel is Sensory Overload: Planes are loud, dry, and cramped.
Always have your noise-cancelling headphones.
Always have a "Safe Snack" (in case airport food is weird).
Always give yourself 3x the recommended transit time. Slow is Safe.
