Thriving in Chaos: ADHD and Creativity
How 'Divergent Thinking' allows ADHD brains to find connections where others see only noise.
Divergent Thinking: The ADHD Superpower
Most people see a problem and look for the "Right" answer. People with ADHD see a problem and see 100 different possibilities. This is called Divergent Thinking.
Because your brain doesn't have a strong "Inhibition Filter," you allow "Crazy" ideas into your active mind. Most of these won't work, but one of them will be a Genius Revelation that no one else thought of.
Feeding the Creativity:
To be creative, you need Safe Chaos. Have a room or a notebook where you are allowed to be "Messy." If you try to be organized and creative at the same time, the "Organized" part of your brain will kill the "Creative" sparks.
Let yourself be messy during the "Idea phase," and only bring in the "Organization" tools at the very end.
