The Matthew Effect: Building Success Momentum
How 'Success breeds success' and using small wins to overcome the 'Failure Spiral' of ADHD.
Small Wins, Big Shifts
The Matthew Effect says: *"For everyone who has, more will be given."* In psychology, this means that Success is a Momentum Game.
For someone with ADHD, we often start at "Negative 10" because of past failures. To reach "One," we need a Micro-Win Strategy.
Building the Chain:
Instead of trying to "Change Your Life," try to Win the next 5 minutes.
Win 1: Drink a glass of water. (Check!)
Win 2: Put one dish in the sink. (Check!)
Win 3: Open the email app. (Check!)
Each of these checks sends a tiny drop of Dopamine to your brain. This dopamine builds Momentum. By the time you reach Win 5, you have enough "Success Fuel" in your tank to try the "Hard Part" of the task.
Don't look at the mountain. Look at the one inch in front of your boot.
