Navigating the School System

Educational support is a Journey, not a one-time meeting.

1. Preparation: Gather all medical reports and sample schoolwork. 2. The Assessment: The school evaluates the child's academic and social needs. 3. The Plan: Creation of an IEP (Individualized Education Program) or a 504 Plan.

Parental Rights: You have the right to challenge a decision, to see all records, and to be a key member of the "Success Team." Don't view the school as an "Authority" to obey, but as a Partner to coordinate with. Your child's success depends on the "Visual Bridges" and "Extra Time" built into their specific plan.
