School and Teacher Communication
How to advocate for your 2e/ADHD child without creating a 'Combative' relationship with the school system.
Building the Home-School Bridge
Advocating for a neurodivergent child in the school system is an Executive Function Marathon. Teachers are often overwhelmed and under-trained in neurodiversity.
The 'Collaborative' Shift:
The Positive Profile: Instead of just listing "problems" (He can't sit still), list "Strengths + Support" (He thrives when he has a fidget toy and learns best through visual models).
Email, Don't Just Call: Keep a written record. It's better for your memory and providing a "Social Skeleton" for the school to follow.
The 'We' Language: Say: *"How can WE help him stay focused during math?"* rather than *"You need to do X."*
Remember: The teacher is your child's Social Environment. If the teacher feels supported and respected, your child will ultimately have a safer space to learn.
