Psychological Barriers to Attention and Motivation
Internal voices that disrupt focus, fear of failure, and barriers to motivation.
Why Can't We Focus?
While traditional approaches often treat focus only through "external stimuli," internal psychological barriers are much more powerful. The fear of "What if I make a mistake?" or the belief that "I won't be able to finish it anyway" causes the brain to escape from the task and shift its attention to "distractions" that feel safer.
Self-compassion-oriented approaches suggest that motivation is sustained through "safety" rather than "perfectionism." An individual who recognizes their own limits and feels the freedom to make mistakes can focus much more easily.
