Procrastination and ADHD: The Truth
Why 'Waiting until the last minute' is a biological survival strategy, not a moral failure.
Waiting for the 'Spark'
Most people think procrastination is "Lazy." For ADHD, it is a Dopamine Deficiency.
Your brain needs a certain level of "Stimulation" to turn on the Prefrontal Cortex. A task with a deadline 2 weeks away provides zero stimulation. A task with a deadline in 2 hours provides a massive flood of Adrenaline and Dopamine.
You aren't choosing to wait; you are waiting for your brain to reach the 'Threshold of Action'.
The Problem: Living this way keeps your body in a "Chronic Stress" state.
The Solution: Don't rely on Urgency. Try to build Novelty or Challenge.
Instead of *"I have to do this boring report,"* say *"Can I finish this report in 1pomodoro cycle?"* (Challenge).
Instead of sitting at your desk, go to a new café (Novelty).
