Preparing for a Specialist Appointment
The 'Efficiency Map': How to present your symptoms clearly to get the best diagnostic and medical support.
Being Your Own Advocate
A 30-minute appointment is very short for a complex ADHD/AuDHD brain. You must be Prepared.
The Specialist Binder:
Life Impact: Don't just say *"I'm distracted"*. Say *"In the last 30 days, I have missed 4 deadlines and lost my wallet twice."* Doctors respond to Data.
Childhood History: ADHD must be present before age 12. Bring old report cards that say things like *"Has potential but doesn't apply self"* or *"Easily distracted."*
Questions to Ask:
1. *"What is your experience with Neuro-Affirming care?"*
2. *"How do you handle cycle-related symptom changes (for women)?"*
3. *"What is the pathway for treatment beyond just medication?"*
You are the "Expert on your life." The doctor is the "Expert on the science." You are there to form a Partnership.
