Planning Crises in Parenting: The Executive Load
Why 'School WhatsApp Groups' and 'Extracurricular Lists' lead to parental burnout for ADHD adults.
The 'Invisible Work' Crisis
Parenting is a Working Memory Test.
When a "Normal" parent sees a message: *"Tomorrow is Blue Shirt Day,"* they process it and move on. When an ADHD parent sees it, their brain screams. Why? Because the ADHD brain is already at 95% capacity just trying to remember "Pack lunch" and "Buy milk." The "Blue Shirt" is the brick that breaks the camel's back.
Survival Strategies for ND Parents:
1. Stop 'Hoping' to Remember: As soon as you see a date, put it in a Shared App (like *Cozi* or *Shared Google Cal*) with an alarm for 24 hours BEFORE and 1 hour BEFORE.
2. The 'Laundry Bin' Hack: Don't just "Do laundry." Have "Monday: Kids socks," "Tuesday: Uniforms." Breaking it by Category reduces the "Search Pain" when you are in a rush.
3. The 'Oxygen Mask' Rule: You cannot organize a child if you are disorded. Take 5 minutes alone before the "Morning Rush" starts. Ground yourself first.
