Personal Care and Hygiene Hacks
Bypassing- executive dysfunction for showering, brushing teeth, and self-care routines.
Why Self-Care is Hard
In ADHD communities, we talk about "The Hygiene Struggle." To others, a shower is "Refreshing." To us, it is a series of Sensory Attacks and Executive Decisions.
ADHD-Friendly Hygiene Strategies:
Dopamine Stacking: Only listen to your favorite podcast while you are in the shower. Now, you actually *want* to get in because you want to hear the story.
Sensory Engineering: Use a "Shower Stool" so you don't have to stand. Use a warm towel (warm it on the radiator) to stop the "Post-shower Chill" that we all dread.
The 'Half-Version': If a shower is too much, use a "Body Wipe." If brushing teeth is too much, use "Mouthwash." Doing something poorly is better than doing nothing at all.
Hygiene is a Self-Care task, not a moral requirement. You aren't "dirty" or "bad"; your brain just needs a better Process.
