Neuro-Strategies in Professional Life
Navigating- the corporate world while neurodivergent: From office politics to managing the 'Email Mountain.'
Surviving the 9-to-5
The modern office is a "Hall of Distractions." Between Slack notifications, loud coworkers, and endless meetings, an ADHD/Autistic professional often spends 80% of their energy just trying to Stay Still and Quiet.
Professional Tactical Sheet:
1. Written-Only Requests: If a boss gives you a verbal task in the hall, say: *"That sounds great! Could you send that to me in an email so I have the details correct?"* This is your Memory Backup.
2. The 'Deep Work' Hour: Put a "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door (or status on Slack) for 2 hours a day. During this time, you do zero emails—only 'Deep' work.
3. Sensory Accommodations: Use noise-cancelling headphones. If coworkers ask, say: *"I focus 2x faster with music; it helps me get the reports to you earlier."* Frame your "Need" as a "Value for the Company."
