Monotropic Split
The cognitive trauma and burnout experienced when environmental demands exceed the system's capacity.

When a monotropic mind is forced to split into many channels simultaneously (social rules, noises, instant tasks), as often happens in school or work life, it experiences a Monotropic Split. That laser-like intense energy is fractured, and systemic trauma occurs.
This fragmentation often pushes the nervous system into Meerkat Mode and Neurodivergent Burnout. To understand the deep nature of monotropic focus and how sudden interruptions cause cognitive distress, you can read more about Tendril Theory and Monotropic Focus.
When this split becomes chronic, Autistic Burnout is inevitable. The individual may temporarily lose their ability to mask, their motor skills, or even their speech capacity. The solution is to reset all demands and allow the individual to retreat into their own interest tunnel to "recharge" the system.
