Mindfulness: Basics and Neurobiology
The- 'Presence' muscle: How regular mindfulness practice physically changes the ADHD Amygdala and Prefrontal Cortex.
Why Our Minds Wander
In ADHD, the Default Mode Network (DMN)—the part of the brain that daydreams and worries—refuses to turn off when you try to work. Mindfulness is the practice of training your "Focus Pilot" to take the wheel back.
The ADHD Reframe:
Mindfulness is NOT "Having a quiet mind." If you have ADHD, your mind will never be "Quiet."
Mindfulness IS "Noticing your mind has wandered and coming back."
Every time you realize you are thinking about shopping and you return to your breath, you have done One Bicep Curl for your brain.
Over time, this strengthens the "Bridge" between your emotions and your actions, helping you pause before you shout or spend money.
