New Rules for ADHD Mindfulness
Most people think mindfulness is about "having no thoughts." For an ADHD person, that's impossible. If you try to have no thoughts, you will fail and feel shame.
The ADHD Reframe:
Mindfulness for us is the Art of Noticing the Wandering.
Every time your mind wanders and you say *"Oops, I'm thinking about Mars,"* and you bring it back to your anchor—that is a 'Rep' for your focus muscle. The wandering isn't the failure; the *noticing* is the win.
Anchor Options for ADHD:
The Breath: Hard for many (causes anxiety).
The Sound: A fan, rain sounds, or a singing bowl.
The Touch: A rough stone or a smooth piece of fabric in your hand.
