Low Stimulation and Focus: The Power of Boredom
Resetting- the 'Dopamine Baseline' by deliberately entering low-stimulus environments.
Taming the 'Struggle for Novelty'
If you spend your morning on TikTok (High-intensity, high-novelty dopamine), your brain's "Reward Center" gets flooded. When you then try to "Read a Report" (Low-intensity, low-novelty), your brain sees it as physically painful. The "Gap" is too large.
Low Stimulation Training:
To focus on "Boring" things, you must sometimes Embrace the Boring.
The 20-Minute Buffer: Before a hard task, put away all screens. Sit quietly. Do nothing. After 20 minutes of "Boring Silence," your brain starts to "Crave" input. Suddenly, that report looks like a "Treat" because it's the only stimulation available.
Visual Minimalism: Clean your desk so there is nothing to look at but your work. By reducing the "Options" for stimulation, you force the brain to attach to the only one left.
