Joint Decision Paralysis: The 'Whatever' Trap
Why 'What should we eat?' can cause a neurological short-circuit and how to fix shared decision energy.
The Clutter of Too Many Choices
*"Where should we go this weekend?"* or *"What movie should we watch?"* These seem like simple tokens of love. To an ADHD brain, they are Cognitive Emergencies.
The brain tries to scan every movie ever made, calculate what you will like, evaluate the IMDb score, and check for "sensory safety"—all at once. The system crashes. The answer is always: *"I don't know, whatever you want."*
The Fix: Binary Choices.
Don't ask *"What do you want for dinner?"*
Ask: *"Pizza or Chinese?"*
By reducing the options to A or B, you bypass the "Decision Fog" and allow the ADHD brain to simply pick a preference.
