Info-Dumping: Loving Through Information
How giving long, detailed explanations about a favorite topic (Info-Dumping) is actually an Autistic love language and a sign of trust.
The Joy of Shared Passion
Info-Dumping is when an individual shares a massive amount of detailed information about a topic they are passionate about, often without standard neurotypical pauses. In a neurotypical context, this might be viewed as "mansplaining" or "socially awkward." However, in Neurodivergent Culture, it is recognized as a Love Language.
When an person info-dumps to you, they are offering you the most valuable thing they have: their passion, their knowledge, and their "monotropic tunnel." It is an invitation to join them in their world. For many, mutual info-dumping (sitting together and sharing deep-dives) is the most satisfying form of socialization.
Social Tip: To strengthen the connection, neurodivergent individuals can practice "checking in" during a dump (e.g., "I've been talking for a while, are you still interested in this topic?"). Conversely, neurotypical partners can recognize that an info-dump is an act of vulnerability and trust, rather than a lecture.
