Expressive Writing and Regulation
Using journaling as an 'External RAM' to clear the mental noise and regulate intense ADHD emotions.
Emptying the 'Buffer'
The ADHD brain often feels like it's "Full" of un-processed thoughts, fears, and plans. This is Working Memory Saturation. When your mental buffer is full, you cannot think clearly or focus on new tasks.
Expressive Writing (or Journaling) acts as an External RAM.
How to do it:
1. Timed Dump: Set a timer for 15 minutes.
2. No Filter: Write everything—even if it's "I hate this" or "I forgot to buy bread." Don't worry about spelling or logic.
3. Physical Connection: Using a pen and paper is often more "Grounding" than typing, as the slower speed of the hand helps slow down the racing thoughts.
By the end of the 15 minutes, you will likely feel a sense of "Lightness." You haven't solved the problems, but you have moved them out of your "Active Processing" space.
