EMDR and Trauma-Focused Therapy
Reprocessing the 'ADHD Trauma'—the history of being misunderstood, excluded, and shamed.
Reprocessing the 'Broken' Narrative
Most adults with ADHD have spent decades receiving negative feedback. This creates Neuro-Trauma. Every time you lose your keys, your body enters a "Trauma Loop," remembering every time you were yelled at for being "irresponsible."
EMDR Therapy uses Bilateral Stimulation (moving eyes back and forth) to help the brain re-process these memories. In an EMDR session, you revisit the "Shame Points" of your past. The eye movements help the brain "digest" those moments, moving them from the reactive part of the brain to the long-term memory part.
The goal isn't to "forget" what happened, but to make the memory feel like a Fact ("That happened") rather than a Threat ("I am still in danger of failing").
