Decision Fatigue and ADHD
Why 'What's for dinner?' feels like a crisis: The exhaustion of making trivial choices with an ADHD brain.
Why Choosing is Exhausting
Every decision you make—from "Which socks should I wear?" to "Which email should I reply to first?"—uses a drop of Executive Energy.
For a neurotypical brain, small choices are "Free." For an ADHD brain, every choice has a Cost. By 4 PM, you have made 200 tiny choices, and your battery is Dead. This is why you cry or get angry when your partner asks: *"What do you want for dinner?"* You literally have no more "Decision Energy" left.
The Solution: The 'Decision Bypass':
1. Uniforms: Have 5 outfits you love. Don't choose. Just pick the next one in line.
2. Meal Templates: *"Monday is Taco Night."* No decision needed.
3. Pre-decide in the AM: Make your hardest decisions before 10 AM, while your battery is at 100%.
