Body Doubling Has No Limits
How can you use the Body Doubling method in every area of life — from washing dishes to paying bills — not just in sport or work?
Body Doubling for Household Chores
Body Doubling is not just a method used while studying or doing sports; it is a lifeline you can use at any point where you experience "task paralysis" in your life.
Especially low-dopamine chores like emptying the dishwasher, hanging laundry, sweeping the house, or organizing a closet are torture for the ADHD brain. Instead of doing these tasks alone, you can use these methods:
Phone Calls: Call your best friend, your mother, or your sibling. While they tell you about their day, you will have folded and put away that mountain of laundry without even noticing. While the dopamine-seeking part of your brain focuses on the conversation, your body switches to autopilot and finishes the chore.
Podcasts and VLOGs: If there's no one to call, listening to a favorite podcast or putting on "Cleaning/Tidying VLOGs" (Clean with Me videos) in the background creates a virtual body doubling experience.
Guest Panic: Sometimes inviting someone over for coffee is the last and most powerful body doubling / accountability form you need (thanks to RSD and social pressure) to clean up that terrible mess.

Productivity, Hobbies, and Digital Tasks
Do you have "digital or mental" chores like paying bills, replying to emails, or booking a doctor's appointment you've been putting off for a long time?
Screen Sharing: Open a screen share on Zoom or Discord with an ADHD friend. Say "You finish that spreadsheet for 15 minutes, and I'll clean up these emails." With cameras on and microphones off (or on), just knowing each other's presence creates incredible focus.
The Coffee Shop Effect: If you can't work at home, take your laptop to a cafe or library. Having people around you (even if they don't know you at all) who are working, looking at computers, will trigger your mirror neurons and send the signal "Work happens here" to your brain.
Silent Clubs: If you can't focus on your hobbies (reading, knitting), join "Silent Book Clubs." These events, where everyone gathers and reads their own book in silence for 1 hour, are one of the best body doubling social spaces created for neurodivergent minds.

> Be careful when choosing your Body Double. People who criticize you, judge you by saying "Why didn't you do this earlier?" (for example, critical parents) bring more harm than good and trigger an RSD crisis. Your body double should be someone who is silent, non-judgmental, and simply "there."
