AuDHD Fusion: The Collision of Two Worlds
The unique dynamics of appearing 'too neurotypical' to be autistic and 'too organized' to be ADHD; the internal tug-of-war.
Mutual Masking: The Invisible ND
When ADHD and Autism coexist in a 2e brain, they often perform Mutual Masking.
The ADHD side might make you appear social, funny, and spontaneous, which "proves" to others that you couldn't possibly be Autistic. Meanwhile, your Autistic need for systems and lists might make you appear "too organized" to have ADHD.
Internally, however, you feel like you are driving a car with one foot on the gas (ADHD) and the other on the brake (Autism). You might crave the dopamine of a new social event, but once there, your Autistic sensory system becomes overwhelmed within 20 minutes. This "Fusion Confusion" leads to deep self-doubt: *"Who am I? The thrill-seeker or the homebody?"*
The answer is: You are both. Understanding this fusion allows you to stop fighting the "other half" of your brain and start designing a life that respects both conflicting needs.
