Attending a Party with ADHD/AuDHD
Social hacks for loud environments, small talk, and the post-party crash.
The Party Toolkit
A party is often a sensory minefield. The loud music, flashing lights, and 20 different conversations happening at once can make the ADHD/AuDHD brain feel like it's short-circuiting.
Top Strategy: The 'Safe Corner'.
Identify the Outlets: Find a balcony, a kitchen, or a quiet room where you can "recharge" for 10 minutes.
The 30-Minute Rule: Give yourself permission to leave after 30 minutes if the "vibe" isn't right. You've done your social duty!
Deep Dive over Small Talk: Don't be afraid to skip the "How is work?" talk and dive into something you're actually interested in. You'll find other neurodivergent people that way—they are the ones with the 'spark' in their eyes.
