ADHD and University Life: Success Strategies
Navigating- the transition from 'Structured High School' to 'Fluid University' without burning out.
The Danger of Freedom
University is the "Great Wall" for many students with ADHD. In High School, you had bells, parents, and teachers keeping you on track. In University, you have Unlimited Freedom.
Unlimited Freedom = Execution Nightmare.
The University Survival Guide:
1. Registration First: Visit the Office of Disability Services in the first week. Don't wait until you fail a test. Get your "Accommodations" (like 1.5x time on tests) documented early.
2. The 'Visual Semester': Use a giant wall calendar for the whole semester. If a deadline is 3 weeks away, you need to "See it" every day so it doesn't vanish from your mind.
3. Body Doubling (Study Halls): Never study alone in your room. Study in the library or a café where other people are working. Their "Focus Energy" will help anchor yours.
