ADHD and Motherhood: The Overload Cycle
Managing the sensory bombardment, decision fatigue, and 'Mummy-Guilt' of being an ADHD parent.
Noise, Touch, and Decision Fatigue
For an ADHD mother, daily life is a Sensory Bombardment. The crying of a child, the physical need for constant touch, and the endless "What's for dinner?" decisions can quickly put the nervous system into a "Shutdown" or "Rage" state.
The Strategy: Lower the Bar.
Sensory Breaks: It's okay to wear noise-canceling headphones for 20 minutes while you cook.
Drop the 'Supermum' Mask: You don't need a perfectly clean house or fresh meals every day. A regulated mother is 100x more important than a clean house.
Ask for Help: Hyper-independence is a trap. Needing help with the laundry or childcare is a sustainability move, not a failure.
