ADHD and Long-Term Planning
Overcoming 'Time-Blindness' to achieve goals that are months or years away.
The Near and Far Brain
For most people, a goal like "Buy a house in 5 years" creates a small motivation signal every day. For an ADHD brain, that house is in a different dimension. If it's not happening in the next 48 hours, our brain doesn't know how to "Feel the Urgency."
How to Bridge the Time Gap:
1. Meet Your Future Self: Use an AI-aging app or draw a picture of yourself in 5 years. Place it next to your computer. When you see "Future You," you feel more empathy for their needs.
2. Reverse Engineering: Don't plan from "Now to Future." Plan from "Future back to Now."
*5 Years: House* -> *1 Year: Savings* -> *1 Month: Budget* -> *Today: Don't buy that coffee.*
3. Visual Scaffolding: Use a "Vision Board." If the goal isn't Visible, it doesn't exist. Seeing the goal every day keeps it in the "Now" category of the brain.
